MCU X-Men Movie May Have Just Found Its Director

The X-Men movie may have finally found a director as a new Marvel Cinematic Universe report reveals a major update about the reboot. With Marvel"s Multiverse Saga nearing its end, the studio is getting closer to properly introducing the beloved X-Men characters. As such, a reboot starring the Marvel mutant team has been in the works for quite some time. While Michael Lesslie was hired to write the X-Men movie script last year, there haven"t been any updates on the film until now.
In a new report from Deadline, Marvel Studios has reportedly entered "early talks" with Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier to helm the X-Men movie. According to Deadline, while it is unknown "where things stand in the dealmaking process," Schreier had a meeting with Marvel Studios last week that, per the trade, has led him to emerge as "the top choice" for the gig. At the time of this story"s publication, Marvel Studios and Disney have not commented on Schreier"s potential X-Men hiring, likely because he has not signed on for the film yet.
What The MCU X-Men Movie Director Report Means Close It"s not a surprise that Schreier is being considered to helm the X-Men reboot for Marvel Studios. The Thunderbolts* reviews praised the filmmaker"s work for how he brought together the morally gray characters to explore the depths of mental health, making the Phase 5 finale a standout for Marvel Studios. As Kevin Feige"s X-Men plan is looking to be a big chapter for the MCU, someone of Schreier"s caliber could be exactly what the mutants need for their re-imagination in the franchise.
What is also clear from the X-Men report is how Marvel Studios has been making sure not to rush the process of finding a filmmaker, which is good to see, since rebooting the mutants for the MCU franchise should be a huge priority for Feige and his team. If Deadline"s report is true regarding how Schreier "in recent days has begun turning down jobs," it might be a good sign that he is close to getting the gig. For now, it remains to be seen if Schreier signs on. There is currently no release date for X-Men, meaning Marvel still has plenty of time to work things out behind the scenes.
Our Take On The MCU X-Men Movie Director Report If Schreier ends up directing the MCU X-Men movie, he would be an amazing fit, especially after how well he handled the characters and stories in Thunderbolts*. In the scenario where Schreier and Marvel Studios formalize a deal, it wouldn"t come as a surprise if there are more updates about the X-Men movie reboot at this year"s San Diego Comic-Con, where they may finally start hinting at the direction of the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars. Hopefully, if everything works out behind the scenes, Schreier will be the one to helm the X-Men reboot for Marvel Studios.
